There appears to be some kind of problem with the 8.9 inch Acer Aspire One netbooks, whereby playing music at full level through the Acer Aspire One’s speakers seems to completely crash the hard drive. Apparently according to several reports on HardwareCult forum, this problem seems restricted to just the Acer Aspire One netbooks with a standard hard drive.

Acer Aspire One netbooks with SSDs are not effected, and it arises apparently when the right speaker causes enough vibration and magnetic interference to crash the hard drive which in turn leads to a bundle of errors.

The strangest thing is this problem was first discovered when an owner played U2’s “Hold Me, Trill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me,” at max volume and this particular song had proven to be adequate at reproducing the problem.
